Quick wit fun with Desiree Deorto

This post is a glimpse into the girl behind the tweets, status updates and good reads. Desiree recently released The Prophecy which is a five star read through and through. After reading the ARC I was given, I wanted to know more about who wrote the book. Really it's a secret way to find out if we have anything in common beyond the book, so when I keep messaging her it's less crazy fangirl and more personable. Even though now it's not a secret...

When Desi isn't throwing confetti, she can be found glaring or falling over. She keeps her girlish figure by laughing her ass off.

"I'm a stay-at-home mother of four (no, it isn't very glamorous unless you have a fascination with diapers and baby puke)who finally decided to grow a pair and follow one of my passions: writing. I've been known to throw glitter and threaten people with unicorns. I hate writing biographies because they make me feel really 'look at me! Look at me!' when I'm really one of those '*waves hand* this is not the person you were looking for* type. I hope everyone enjoys my books, and look forward to providing more books that everyone will love!"

**^^^Yeah^^^She's that cool. We all have those moments (especially when grown up's who write play games that require you to say the first thing that comes to mind)

I asked Desi to play a little game with us. All she had to do was finish the sentence and her responses are priceless. If you have a clever sentence you’d like to see her finish, leave a comment and we’ll post Desiree’s response on our facebook page here:))!

1.            OMG I just saw… a hippopotamus

2.            I’m too cool for… clothes

3.            The tap dancing purple, blue and green lady bug just... did the monster mash

4.             Look out behind you its… GODZILLA! (with cheesy Japanese accent)

5.            Dear God look at the size of those… shoes! You know what they say wink

6.            I wish I could… fly, I wish I could touch the sky, think about it every night and day..... jams out

7.            I didn’t mean to… sing to you

8.            I hate it when people… look at you like you're from mars. Whenever they do that, look at them seriously and say 'You may think I'm from Mars, but really, I'm from Uranus'. Then calmly walk away. Facial expression is PRICELESS

How many times during school were you forced to “get to know” a random person in class? I know you have been because I’m in college and still have to do it. So I just added some more questions to my compiled list and made Desiree answer some. She writes some amazing stories, so getting to know her sounded like a fun next step. If you have a question for Desiree or a “finish the sentence” starter comment below and we’ll post the answers here

1.            If you could be a book character (not from your book) who would you be?

Cat in Jeanine Frost's books because Bones is freaking hot and she's a total bad ass.

2.            What’s your favorite pizza toppings?

I love love LOVE veggie pizza's.  Extra cheese is a must!

3.            Favorite ice cream?

I really don't have a favorite, though I just found out that Ben and Jerry's came out with coffee ice cream O.O Would totally consume that like a BEAST!

4.            What’s your ideal ice cream sundae consist of?

Hmm... probably lots of fudge (drown it!), tons of whipped cream (just give me the can) and a million cherries with tons of pecans!

5.            What was your first car?

A 2000 VW Beetle.  Adorably lime green. Jeremy (my boyfriend) said that it looked like it was smiling at you. It creeped him out, but I loved it.  Plus it had turbo! It was small, but mighty!

And nobody forgot the bookish questions! They’re right here and Desiree might talk a little more about The Prophecy from the deleted scene shared earlier this week here...

1.            Do you have any writing rituals or certain things you do to aid your writing process?

Yes, I have to have poster board in order to map out my story lines, and I also do full psychological profiles on all my characters, even the minor ones. Oh, and I can't edit without red pens.  Don't know why, but I just can't do it.

2.            Favorite snack and thing to drink while you write?

Coffee is a definite whenever I write, and whenever I need 'brain food' I always eat Tostino's frozen pizza. I'm going to end up getting HUGE lol

3.            Do you listen to music while you’re writing?

Sometimes I do, but I tend to zone it out. I prefer absolute silence while writing.

4.            Who is your favorite character from any or your books and why?

Oh geeze. Um, I would have to say Brandon because of how great of a supporting character he is.  It's hard for me to have a definite favorite though because all of them are going to be going through so much and change dramatically from the beginning of the book to the end.  And, of course, I'm evil and kill some of them off.  Prepare your torches! You guys are going to have a love/hate relationship with me ;)

Now take a look at her masterpiece!

The Siren's Secret by Heather Ostler

My pretties, I have been looking forward to this post for ages! I think Felicia may even have slapped me through her computer screen because I kept talking about it. Just so you my lovelies are aware, I asked Heather Ostler if she'd like to do an interview for my post (last minute-I might add) and she graciously agreed. So after my moment of fangirling and excited dancing I worked on some questions and I hope you like them my pretties. Heather did a phenomenal job letting us in her world for a while (through both of her books and now the interview)!

Yes, I had to put Jim Carey in there because he's showing you my excitement. Now I'm posting my review of the ARC I got for The Siren's Secret first. Then the interview.

**Just so you know. The first book in the series The Shapeshifter's Secret's cover is JUST as gorgeous. Even though I do love The Siren's Secret's a little bit more since green is one of my colors**

Book Blurb

Julia's life has gone from complicated to nearly impossible! When Julia loses her shapeshifting powers and her appearance changes in alarming ways, she flees to Sirenity, where she learns an incredible secret about her mother. In this thrilling sequel, Julia must take greater risks and make bigger sacrifices as she discovers who she really is and what she can really become.

My Review

4.5 Stars

In the second book The Siren’s Secret, Julia finally discovers who she is at her very core. The Shapeshifter’s Secret took readers on Julia’s journey finding out what she was and some truths about her mother. Heather Ostler made The Siren’s secret follow Julia down the hardest road we’ll ever travel. The road that reveals parts of yourself you never knew existed and it was no different for Julia Levesque. The Siren’s Secret connected beautifully to The Shapeshifter’s Secret and will definitely make reader’s want more. She did a great job building not one, but two completely separate lands and filling each with painstaking details and keeping them unique to Julia's world.
In the beginning of this book on multiple occasions I really wanted to slap Julia for her choices and way of thinking, but I had to consider the multitude of obstacles Julia was facing and how her fear at that point was really in control. Ostler did an amazing job describing things and aspects of Ossai that played into Julia’s fear and showing her personal growth throughout the story. Her imagery throughout the entire book enabled me to see what was happening even though I was just reading and the further I read the more I felt like I was pulled into Julia’s world.
In The Siren’s Secret, you see Julia use the skills she learned in the first book, the truth ring Caleb gave her, and of course Sierra and Gabe standing by her side. Some of my favorite parts were the aftermath of a plot twist that stole my breath and kept me turning the page. I enjoyed how as Julia’s story progressed things became more intense between the characters, the plot lines and the decisions Julia had to make before Ostler wrapped it up with a bang, which left me wanting to know more.
I will be waiting patiently for the next installment because I’m officially hooked on Julia. The way she grows throughout The Siren’s Secret put me on her cheer team and I can’t wait to read her next journey.

****Yes! Time for our interview with Heather*****

Q & A with Heather Ostler

1.     What are you listening to right now? Do you listen to music while you write?

I actually don’t listen to music while I write (I’m weird like that), but I do love hearing the pitter-patter of rain while I’m working.

Would you mind explaining a little about your writing process? (Things you need or like to have with you. Any fun rituals?)

My dogs are always with me when I write, and they’re usually snoozing. I like to have my heater next to me in the winter months (and winter in Utah seems to last from October through May), and in summer I like to write outside. I love having chocolate around me while I’m typing, whether it’s hot chocolate, chocolate ice cream, or chocolate cake bites. Something about writing and chocolate just goes together!

When did you first start writing? Did you always lean toward the paranormal genre?

I started writing in jr. high school, and I always loved creating stories with paranormal creatures. I just thought the hero’s journey was more fascinating when it involved a hidden world or mythical creatures. I think growing up I always wished I was a mermaid, fairy, or something from a magical world. That translated into my writing.

How did you come up with Julia’s story?

Julia’s character was a long time in the making. I started out with the idea of a girl who could shapeshift and would have to learn to control her ability, and from there I started thinking of all the adventures and conflicts she would go through. I realized that she would discover her family’s dark past, she would embrace her paranormal side, and she would fall in love.

Did Julia or her comrades ever take you down a different road then you had planned while writing?

Definitely. So many characters have changed, and one character in particular was going to betray Julia, however I stopped him. Sometimes you have to go with your gut, and your outline goes to the trash. It takes more time, but you have to write the story until you feel good about each scene and each character.

What book are you reading right now?

City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

Okay, if I asked you to recommend me three books to read, what would they be?

Oh that’s so hard, I have so many favorites! For Fantasy: Harry Potter, for middle grade: Holes, and for young adult: The Hunger Games.

I love Ossai and Sirenity. How did you develop those worlds? Did somewhere you visit inspire those worlds?

Thank you so much. Yes, my traveling adventures have definitely inspired the settings for my books. England and Italy helped to shape Ossai, and Sirenity was largely influenced by The Caribbean and The Mexican Rivera.

What was the hardest thing about writing The Siren’s Secret?

Editing. I love free writing and letting an idea run wild, but it’s hard for me to get down to the fine details of grammar and punctuation. I have to take time to write as ideas are coming, and then go back and edit later.

Would you mind sharing about whatever you’re working on right now?

I would love to. I’m working on the third and final book for The Shapeshifter’s Secret series, and I’m also writing a new young adult, paranormal series.

Have you considered ever writing a novella from different character’s perspective to accompany the series?

I’ve thought many times about writing from Alexis’s perspective. I like getting into the villain’s head and seeing what drives them to do the things they do. I like villains that are complex and unpredictable.

Who was your favorite character from the series and why?

I really love Sierra because she’s such a good friend to Julia. She’s kind, sympathetic, and loyal, but she’s also fun and witty. She’s a compilation of a lot of different people in my life, and I love writing her character.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not writing?

I love reading, spending time with family, catching up on my favorite shows, and traveling.

Reese Cups or Reese Pieces?

Reese's cups!

And now, before you go back to the writing cave, how about a snippet from your book that is meant to intrigue and tantalize us? Or even a deleted scene?

Yes, definitely! Here’s a snippet from Chapter One:

Julia sat down at the dinner table across from several other soldiers, who were busy conversing about Ossai, Lockham Castle, and the Guild. “This is for you, sir.” She looked up and saw a young soldier with blond hair carrying a messenger bag. He had been coming by once a week to drop off Lancer’s mail and never stayed longer than ten minutes. He reached into his pack, pulled out a stack of envelopes and a brown package, and gave them to Lancer, Julia’s father.
“Thank you, Radley,” Lancer replied. He flipped through the envelopes absentmindedly and divided them into stacks.
“What’s in the package?” Julia asked. Even though she knew it wasn’t for her, her imagination ran away with fun possibilities. What if it was a care package from Terrence? Or maybe Scarlet had sent a box full of sweet treats? Julia’s father glanced at the address on the parcel.
“It’s nothing,” he said. “It’s probably files from the Ossain government.” He picked up a letter opener and cut across the top of the box. Before opening it, however, he paused. “Actually, I should wait for Liam. These might be the papers he requested.”
He picked up the box and tossed it to a smaller table against the wall. The box flew five feet in the air, landed on the table, and then exploded with a deafening boom. Julia watched as the table underneath the package blew apart, sending wood, drywall, and dust out from the explosion.
“Get down!” Lancer yelled, pushing her back. She almost fell out of her chair as she scurried away from the blast.
The room fell silent as the group of soldiers ducked and waited to make sure the explosion was over. After thirty seconds, Lancer glanced around. “Everyone okay?”
As the dust settled, Julia saw that the blast had made a gaping hole in the wall with scorch marks that would forever serve as a reminder of the explosion. Below the hole was a pile of wood, what was once the table. A few soldiers inched near the wood and began looking for any more explosives or dangerous items.
“Radley,” Lancer said, turning to the solider. “Who gave you that package?”
Radley shook his head nervously. “It was just at the Ossain government building waiting for delivery. I promise, sir, I had nothing to do with this.” The color had drained from his face.
Lancer held up a hand. “I know, I know. I’m not blaming you.”
As Julia stood up, she realized that she was shaking. Her father was just about to open that package; if he hadn’t tossed it aside, then it would have blown up in his face. She felt like a brick had hit the pit of her stomach.
“Who was it from then?” she asked in a dry voice.
Lancer wiped some drywall dust from his sleeve. “It was from the Guild,” he answered.
“So they know where we are?” She looked at the hole in the wall and realized she could see through to the living room now.
“No, but they knew I’d take mail from the government. That package was a message from the Guild. They don’t want us to feel safe. They want to make sure we know they’re still in control.”

***Side-note I'm linking the Shapeshifter's Secret because The Siren's Secret is not available yet and you'll need to read this book first anyway if you haven't!***

M.A. George Author Spotlight

So today on the blog I have an interview with M.A. George! She's the author of Proximity and Relativity and is currently working on the third book in the series. I emailed her and asked if she'd be willing to answer some questions and because she was sweet enough to oblige, I have a wonderful interview for your enjoyment. I love her sense of humor and the fact that overall I'd say she's cool for letting me have a few fangirl moments and not run. My review for Proximity can be found here and as soon as A&P becomes my second language, I'll have Relativity's posted soon! Now on to the best part!

Q&A with M.A.George

1.      What are you listening to right now? Do you listen to music while you write?
I’m physically incapable of writing without tunes…I have a wee bit of an addiction to music.  I’m currently listening to the Great Gatsby soundtrack.  Holy cow, Florence Welch is phenomenal (as always)!

2.      Would you mind explaining a little about your writing process? (Things you need or like to have with you. Any fun rituals?)
I occasionally jot story ideas in a spiral notebook; but the vast majority of the time, I’m sitting in my cushy chair in the living room with my netbook perched on my lap.  Must have the ear buds in (see aforementioned music addiction).   I write chronologically; so if I have ideas that aren’t going to fit into the current chapter, I put them in a random mishmash in a separate document.  Then I pull them back into the story when the right moment comes along.  I usually obsessively reread each chapter at least nine or ten times before I move on to the next.  Who are you calling neurotic?…

3.      Was there a specific event or anything that inspired you to write Proximity?

The idea for Proximity literally popped into my head one morning.  It started as a vague idea…A woman living on Earth—trying to blend in like any other average person—only with one distinct hurdle:  She isn’t human.  From there, Palta’s story took off.

4.      Did your characters ever take control of the story and surprise you?

Frequently!  While I usually have a fairly good idea where I’m headed with the story, I do like to keep my mind open to random “suggestions” from my characters.  They may take me on a detour that I never expected.  I actually love it when they do that…It’s almost like I’m the original reader of their story, watching it unfold for the first time.

5.      What book are you reading right now?

I’m all over the place with my reading (as in, I often wind up reading three or four things at once…Yes, it’s an illness).  I had taken a break from The Sunne in Splendour (by Sharon Kay Penman) and I’m getting back to it now.  It’s beautifully written, just a little intense…so I have to read it in segments to catch my breath.

.      Can you tell me your top three favorite couples from the books you've read? Maybe a little about why?

I can’t help but go to the classics for these…not because I don’t love plenty of the “current” couples out there, but because I have an unnatural addiction to the classics.  (Bear with me, it can’t be helped.)  My first choice would be Jane Austen’s Frederick Wentworth and Anne Elliot (Persuasion).  I love that they get a second chance at true love after all the years apart.  My second pick is Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester.  I know it’s a little creepy that his wife has been locked in the attic and whatnot, but I give him props for providing housing and one-on-one care for a woman he was deceived into marrying.  And I love that he and Jane love each other for the person within, not the outward appearance.  Finally, I’ll go with John Harmon and Bella Wilfer (from Charles Dickens’ Our Mutual Friend).  It’s all around just a fantastic story, and I love that John and Bella rise above being thrown together for monetary gain and choose instead to find real love, even if it means poverty.

7.       If you had to write it all over again, would you change anything?

I’d probably be changing little things every day!  I’m just that way.  I know the romance between Eric and Palta develops quickly—and I’ve contemplated whether it should have taken more time for them to fall for one another—but I don’t think I would actually change it if I had the chance.  There’s a sense of urgency throughout much of the story; and I think slowing it down might have killed that.

8.      What was the hardest thing about writing Proximity?

Stopping to eat, sleep, do pretty much anything other than continually type!  Proximity came out in a flood of ideas that wouldn’t turn off. Thankfully, the flood slowed down a little bit for the rest of the series…not to say I lost my enthusiasm, just the frenzy of ideas got a little better-controlled.

9.      Would you mind sharing about whatever you’re working on right now?

I’m currently in the midst of the third book in the Proximity series.  It picks up shortly after Relativity’s conclusion, and I’m sincerely hoping readers will enjoy the continuation of Palta’s story!

1.   Can we expect any new series from you in the future?
I have my next story brewing in the back of my mind, and I’m very excited to get started with it.  Since I can’t seem to focus on more than one project at a time, I will be finishing my current WIP before I move on to this new idea.  I haven’t decided yet if it will be a stand-alone or a series.  We’ll see!

11.   Have you considered writing a novella about Sabela and Dominick?

It hadn’t occurred to me, but I’m loving that idea!  Thanks for the food for thought!

12.   Who was your favorite character from Proximity and Relativity and why?

Palta is a favorite.  Even though she’s not “me” (i.e., she’s an entire person in her own right), I identify with her very much.  And she often has the guts to say the things I’d only be thinking in the back of my mind.  That being said, I have so many favorite characters from this story.  And Eric (a.k.a. Aeron) is my dreamboat.   Love him.

13.   How about your least favorite? What makes them less appealing to you?

I think Bito Obo would have to be my obvious least favorite.  The guy’s just a scumbag.  Imagine the nerve, tormenting my favorite characters like that.  To make it that much worse, he presents himself as squeaky clean.  It’s infuriating.

44.   What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not writing?

My kids are my life, so hands down that would be spending time with them.  Specifically, we’ve taken up camping lately (trailer camping, that is), and it has been a complete blast.  Making amazing memories with my favorite little guys.

15.   Reese Cups or Reese Pieces?
Cups!  No contest.  I’m not that drawn in by a candy shell; but give me melty chocolate and peanut butter, and I’m done for.

16.   And now, before you go back to the writing cave, how about a snippet from your book that is meant to intrigue and tantalize us? Or even a deleted scene?
How about an excerpt from Chapter 8?  Palta stumbles upon an unexpected scene, and shortly thereafter finds herself passing out next to her secret crush *Gasp*…

I regained consciousness with my face still resting against his chest, rejoicing at its steady rise and fall.  His heart thumped powerfully in my ear, and I paused there to listen to the most wonderful sound imaginable.  I would have been content to daydream there for hours, but I snapped back into reality as a low groan resonated in Eric’s chest.  I quickly pushed myself up and scooted back to sit a few feet away from him, suddenly uncomfortable with physical contact.
Eric reached his hand up to rub the side of his head as he slowly propped himself up with the opposite elbow.  His eyes passed over the contents of the cramped shed, coming to rest on my face.
“Palta?” he asked, the confusion plainly visible on his face.
I hesitated momentarily, preoccupied with the fact that he knew my name.  “Yes?”  I finally managed to speak.
Regaining his polished composure, he lowered his hand and pushed up to a seated position.  With a polite tone, he said, “Forgive me, Palta—but I seem to be having difficulty recalling how we got here…”
“How’s your head?” I asked, as he reached up again to massage the side of his scalp.  “You took quite a blow.”
He lowered his eyes, tilting his head to the side and creasing his forehead for a moment as he considered the idea.  Eventually he collected himself again as he looked back up toward the door.  We both realized simultaneously that the light through the tiny window was beginning to fade to night.
Eric began to shift his weight to stand, but faltered as he stumbled backward into the cabinet behind him.
“Sit back down,” I urged him.  “You’re still weak…You lost a lot of blood.”
Suddenly he froze, his eyes now wide with alarm as he focused on my left shoulder.  I looked down to see the conspicuous patch of orange beginning to dry on my sleeve.
I looked back up at his face, still frozen with shock, with an anxious tension in my eyes.  I waited for a moment, then sighed aloud with the thought of what I was about to do.   Tentatively, I raised my hand and touched my fingertips to my right temple.  Diverting my eyes away from his, I slowly swept my bangs up and back, carefully tucking the strands behind my ear.  After a long pause, I shifted my eyes back to meet his gaze.
Eyes still wide, he swallowed hard as he took in the sight of me.  Then, with a startling jolt, he turned and darted toward the door.  I sat motionless as the sound of his footsteps pounding on the pavement rapidly receded into the distance.
I stayed there for several minutes, utterly spent, mulling over the images in my mind.  I was used to the unusual—but this evening had gone well beyond unusual.  My mind settled on two concerning realities:
Firstly, the sight of my ears could definitely clear a room.
Secondly—and much more disturbingly—Eric Moran was deathly afraid of me.

**Is there anything else you’d like to say?

Thank you so much for having me over for an interview!  It’s been a joy!  And thanks for reading… :))

Rene Folsom Author Interview

So today here on the blog, I have an interview with Rene Folsom!!!! All those exclamation points are there to reinforce how excited I am that she agreed to answer some questions and share some more about herself with us. Her books Heart You and Bind Me from her Roommate series reviews can be found here on the blog. She also has a Soul Seers series that I'm excited to start reading since I discovered how talented she is. At the bottom of the interview there will be links to her books and links so you can stalk her (and I do not encourage the creepy kind of stalking. This is more for saying hello and fangirling).

Oh and I most definitely asked her A LOT of questions. I hope you enjoy them and check her out because she's awesome and she actually answered ALL my questions!! Thank you again Rene for being such a great sport.

***There are more books available in the Soul Seers series other than the first one I have pictured here***

Rene Folsom Q & A

1.     What inspired you to write your first book?
That depends on what you consider my first book.  If you mean the first book I published, then I must tell you my fun little story about the inspiration of Heart You.  This year, on Valentine’s Day, Cynthia Shepp posted a Goodreads group thread challenging authors to come up with a short story using the following prompts: Valentine’s Day, candy conversation hearts, a love triangle, a black rose, and water balloons.  Needless to say, I pumped something out fairly quick.  After talking with Cynthia, who is also my editor, I decided to expand on the story and publish it.  I was already done with several other short stories by this point, but they were not published yet.  So, Heart You became my first published book and was inspired by Cynthia’s challenging prompts.
Cynthia Shepp’s website – http://cynthiashepp.wordpress.com/

2.     Are there any books that have influenced your life? The more the merrier.
The first book that pops into my mind is Twilight (I know, some many have a love/hate relationship with that answer).  My reason is valid though because it's the book that got me back into reading again.

3.     What book are you reading right now?
Right now I am reading The Gathering by S.L. Dearing and Red Planet by Robert Heinlein (recommended by the enigmatic Jayce Grayson)
The links…
The Gathering – http://amzn.com/B004DCB5X2/
Red Planet – http://amzn.com/0345493184/
Jayce Grayson, author of Xianne, who is guiding me through the world of Heinlein – http://www.amazon.com/Jayce-Grayson/e/B004XD1FUO/

4.     Do you have any writing rituals or certain things you do to aid your writing process?
Peace and quiet is very difficult to get when my house is overrun with snot-nosed children, but I do try to write at night when I know I can concentrate and not be interrupted with fighting siblings or hungry tummies.

5.     Favorite snack and thing to drink while you write?
Twizzlers and Mountain Dew :)

6.     Do you listen to music while you’re writing?
Most of the time, no.  But, occasionally I’ll be in the mood for some music and try to keep it low so as not to be too distracting.

7.     Can you tell us anything about what you’re currently working on?
Wow, that question is a mouthful.  I have officially diagnosed myself with ADD, so the amount of projects I currently have going are all over the board!  I’ll try to give a breakdown and hope I don’t make your brain explode.
 - Completing book six of the Soul Seers Series.
 - The third Roommate Romance novella, which has a tentative title of Share You.
 - My full-length erotica novel I’ve been working on since September of last year called Exposed Affections.  A three chapter teaser is available on my website at http://renefolsom.com/2013/05/first-three-chapters-of-exposed-affections/.
 - A new vampire erotica short featuring a dominant motorcycle street racer chick.
 - A super top-secret collaboration with the fantastic S.L. Dearing.

8.     Who is your favorite character from any or your books and why?
That would have to be Chaz from Bind Me.  I’m going to let y’all read it for yourself.  Once you do, you’ll know exactly why he’s my favorite.  ;)

9.     How about your lest favorite character? What makes them unappealing to you?
Wow.  This question is hard to answer without giving away too many spoilers.  All I will say is Rob from my full-length novel currently in progress, Exposed Affections.

10.  If you could change one thing from your series, what would it be?
The only thing I can think of is to possibly make the characters a little older.  Even though they’re both in their early 20s, I’ve had a few reviewers call the story YA when I don’t want it labeled as such since there will be some graphic friendliness later on in the series.

11.  Tell us a little bit about your cover art for your Soul Seers and Roommate series. Who designed them? What made you want to go in that direction/image?
I designed all my covers myself.  I have been a professional graphic designer for over eight years and also provide premade and custom cover design to other authors.  Naturally, I take pride in all my cover designs.
The Soul Seers models were just too beautiful to pass up and purple/green is my favorite color combination (hence their intense eye colors).
Heart You needed to have that teasing quality that so nicely portrays a scene in the book.

12.  What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re taking a break from working on your WIPs?
SLEEP!  Oh my, I desperately need sleep when I’m not working and/or writing.

13.  Is there anything else you’d like to say?
Uhm… thank you?  Yeah, that’s it.  Thank you!  And, don’t be afraid to drop me a line on my Facebook page every once in a while.  I don’t bite… hard.

14.  And now, before you go, how about a snippet from your book that is meant to intrigue and tantalize?
Gladly!  This short excerpt is from an untitled story I am currently working on.  The story will include a special treat for all my readers that I’m hoping everyone will LOVE! <3

This beautiful man is petrified of me.  Of course, I’m not surprised.  He should be scared.

Standing over him, I could tell he wanted this.  Regardless of how much he tried to hide himself, he couldn’t hide the look of fascination disguised behind his fear.

His naked skin against my black satin sheets made me think of piano keys—patterns of ebony and ivory—perfect for playing a sultry tune using my skillful fingers.  Adding streams of scarlet on this colorless canvas would be the perfect touch.

My loft was ideal for my… recreations.  The upper-level was open, yet private, hiding my play area from the world outside.  Even though my human façade was daring and outgoing, I thrived on anonymity in my personal life.

I could already tell this man was going to derail my desire to remain unknown.  The pulse throbbing at his thick neck made me realize just how irresistible he was to me.

Continuing to examine him, exploring every curve of his muscles, every vein under his skin, I chuckled out loud as I wondered, can I keep him as my own personal pet?

Goose bumps broke out over his deliciously marbled skin at the sound of my laugh.  He bit his lip as he stared back at me, attempting to stay strong.  He knew he wanted it—wanted something—and the suspense of exactly what it was he wanted was killing him.

Yet, I thrived on suspense.  The build up of expectation as I watched my lovers squirm was nearly the same as foreplay.  After you couldn’t take the wait and anticipation any longer, the point of no return was pure rapture.

My bed consisted of a thin, yet comfortable mattress lying in the middle of the hardwood floor.  The walls surrounding the entire upper-level were mirrored, allowing me to see my catch from all angles.  It was a feature already installed when I moved in and I wordlessly thanked the previous tenant for his perverted ways.

I firmly stood at the foot of the bed, my feet spread apart and my hands on my hips, wearing my favorite high-heeled leather boots and an outfit that was made up of nothing more than a few leather straps wrapping around my curvy frame.  Licking my lips, anticipation welling up inside me, I silently stalked my prey.

Dinner.

Thank you again for playing with me and answering my questions. I can say that I am now even more eager about your WIP because that teaser was divine. As was learning you love Mountain Dew because so do I! Exciting, I know. I sincerely hope to have you come back soon! I'll find an excuse...
